Happy New Year!
Hey everyone, and Happy New Year!
I hope 2025 brings you all the fun you can wish for. As we kick off the year, I wanted to share with you the new public release for The Pacifier Project. It will probably be the last one in a while, given that I spend more and more time working on my new project, but I'll talk more about future plan down the line in my new year roadmap.
You shouldn't expect tons and tons of new narrative content in this release. Instead, I've mostly focused on sandbox aspect on the game. The daycare that you can now open is an example of that, with NPCs able to live their life without your input. Of course, it's a bit experimental, so don't be starled by NPC living their life like they want. The NPC AI is a bit clumsy, but it is used as a live-test for some concept I intend to port more steadily in DreamWalker. Along with that, I've wrote a ton of randomly generated dialogue, in the same vein as the NPC bubbles, so I hope this will keep things fresh!
You can also babify nearly all the NPCs, provided you got the right item at the end of the game. Other NPC should react to it, and you can have a lot of fun playing as the main villain and watching chaos unfold as the city turn out to a giant daycare. As this have the potential to totally break the game, I've decided to not save NPC states so you can easily revert back by simply restarting the game.
Another change to note is that I've integrated a lite version of error and crash analysis into the game. This is an Opt-In feature, meaning it’s completely optional and only active if you choose to toggle it on in the settings. If you do activate it, any crash or error that occurs during your play session will be automatically and anonymously sent to me. This is a smaller version of what I started to implement in DreamWalker, and the goal here is to help me understand how this system might change my approach to addressing issues (and, of course, catch any hard to get errors that somehow flew under the radar up until now!). There’s no obligation to turn this feature on, but if you’re comfortable with it, your participation would be a huge help in improving the game. It’s a small way to contribute to making the game more stable and enjoyable for everyone. Thank you in advance to anyone who opts in!
As with the last version, the main download is split in two files that need to be downloaded separately, and extracted using 7zip. Winrar won't work so don't waste your time, you can instead use the mega mirror if you don't want to use 7zip. I've managed to work on a bit on texture to reduce the size of the game, so it's a bit less heavy than the last version, but still over itch limit.
And without further ado, the changelog :
