Beta release - Public


Hey everyone,

I'm very happy to release today the beta version of The Pacifier Project. There's still al lot to be made, of course, but I now feel the game is stable and most features are in place, hence the transition from alpha to beta. 

From the last public release, there's a lot of changes. Cosmetics, on one side, because the UI and a lot of older areas got totally rewamped. Technical, also, because I know the game's state was not acceptable during the last release. A lot of you complained rightfully about the hospital's level performance, and I adressed that to ensure everybody can enjoy the game without framerate drop.

And more importantly, content. I worked a lot on integrating new features and mechanics into the new content, so it can be more fullfilling, NPCs reacting to events, able to follow player around, more abilities so mini-games can be more complex...All of that participate to flesh out the game, and I hope you'll enjoy it.

The options and settings got rewamped a lot since the last public release. I encourage you to step in the settings first things, and check/uncheck what you need. Theses will be saved when you save your game.

I also published a walkthrough. Here's the related itch post. You can use it if you feel really lost. Please note that this is a shared notebook.

And, final notes : I'm launching a big survey about this beta release and my future project. You can find the link here and the related itch post here. You can take your time to fill it, it will be open until the end of the year. Especially, it would be far better if you experience the beta build first before plunging into the survey, so you get the last experience. Thank you all in advance if you choose to participate ! It's of course fully anonymous and confidential.

Edit :  There's a lingering bug that can affect your save if you used the skip_tutorial or skip_firstlevel debug command in the past. To prevent further issues, please open the debug command line and enter the command camerasavefix to prevent any bug to occuring.

Without further wait,here's the changelog.

World

The diaper club is now open in the hidden room of the school building.

The player house is rewamped to fit up new standard for building.The fridge is now functional and provide food.

The city Park is now open and can be freely accessed after the tutorial for some strolling around nature.

The library got a rewamp to better fit the new interior standard.

The city host a new seasonal effect to fit for the winter theme. You can disable it in the setting.

The courtyard of the school building is now open and can be accessed from inside the main school building.

The library's archive can now be visited.

The supermarket goes a whole new look and is more on par with recently rewamped levels. Added a toy store in the city center. The city stores are now part of the city map. Added a washing machine in the diaper club room so you can clean up accidents.

You can now uncover more mysteries while visiting the university building at night.

Cheer up ! The city bar is open for business and ready to sell you some alcohol if you're adult enough.

You can now go back inside the hospital wards after finishing the level.

Story :

Added a diaper club side quest to allow the player to recruit a new member. The new member will find his place in the club next update !

Added a diaper club side quest to walk around the city with a member.

Added a diaper club side quest that lead to a special mini game in the courtyard.

Added a follow-up to the hospital level that involve visiting the library. The hospital level need to be completed to trigger it. 

Important : For thoses who use a save where the hospital is already done, I had to add a flag to mark the hospital as completed and so you might not be flagged as "completed". You need to either redo the level OR use the new debug command that allow you to "complete" the level (see the command list in the debug console).

The arcade can now be fully opened. A new mini game has been added to  the arcade :Baby Baby rush. In the classic platformer style, try to get  to the end of the level with the maximum score !

You can follow up the main story line up until just after the university. Will you uncover more shady things?

A whole new side quest was added, focusing on the caregiver side. Either embark as an adult in a journey to find littles to take care of, or choose your own caregiver.

Player:

Added new animations.

Crouch speed decreased.

You can now increase or decrease your maturity with some books available in the library. This aim to give you more control over your maturity level.

Player can now fart and accidentaly trigger a mess when farting. Farting level can be adjusted in the settings (and be totally disabled if needed).

Accidents animation can now randomly be skipped when the player is either alcoholized enough or immature enough.

Two news abilities are available. Hit allow the player to hit and stun an NPC,given that you equip a special item that allow it. Throw allow you to throw the equiped item to various effects.

NPC:

NPC are now able to detect if the player had an accident or isn't wearing a diaper.

NPC are now able to use diapers.

NPC will now turn around and try to face the player.

NPC can now, in some occasions, follow players around and comment player's actions.

Hospital guards and nurses are now able to be hit, stunned or distracted to help player go through.

NPC can now comment on event, without being prompted, various players actions, like having an accident or farting, provided they are in range.

New event : Spanking. NPCs can now punish the player for bad behaviour.

UI:

Title screen updated with a new UI

Settings updated with a new UI

Diary updated with a new UI. It should provide far more information about where the player are in the story.

Main HUD updated with a new look.

Added a few options.

Inventory and equipement panel updated. Inventory now have multiples panel to help organize items. Stores panels updated.

HUD icons are now x1,5 time bigger

Added a no running allowed indicator to indicate to the player when he can't run.

Added a whole new Achievement panel and system

Items:

Added one new kind of diaper

Added an onesie

Added an equipable baby rattle.

Added a new special item: the memories glasses. It allow the player to see lingering memories.

Added a recycling dumpster in the city. You can sell used diaper for money, providing a potential infinite source of money.

The baby rattle can now be used as a weapon to strike your foes on the head.

New kind of item : some items can now be thrown to various effects

Introducing multi currency : some stores will have their own  currency, like the arcade will only accept arcade tokens as the main  payment. Added some prizes to the arcade to be gained in exhange for some tokens.

Added three kind of pullups that can be bought in various stores

Added a new kind of food: alcohol. Alcohol make you drunk, messing controls around and blurrying your vision. It can also affect your continence.

Technical:

Improved the asset management. The game should be lighter and perform sightly better.

Mouse support : you can now click on NPC instead of pressing E to talk to them. Enable the option in the setting to activate it.

Added a debug console. You can access it with F12 (after enabling cheats in the settings)

The title  music is back

Sound adjustment should now work better

Some of your settings should be saved between games sessions

You can now use the "mouse movement" option in the setting to enable the ability to move with left-click button.

Debug: you can now use the command questbool to forcefully trigger an in-game flag. See this link for a full list of commands.

NPC now get culled when out of vision to improve performance.

Most of heavy levels now get culled when out of camera to improve performance.

Improved the loading mechanism between level so the player doesn't fall out of bounds

Corrected a bug in the event system opening forcefully a random UI panel after hitting space or enter.

Corrected a shader runtime behaviour that were affecting most NPCs texture in the build version of the game.

whats the command to make the hospital level recognize its complete? i tried a few things but nothing is working and when i talk to the secretary it just says that the doctor is waiting for me like at the beginning of the mission and the door to the hallway that leads to the doctor is shut

try questbool EscapedHospital  

It should have the same effect if you use skip_leveltwo

Hey, my resolution seems to be broken outside of the title menu.

What's broken exactly? Did you try changing setting? Switching to full screen?

I'm already in Full Screen, I changed my resolution and it broke the UI and the graphics didn't update after loading a game.

1360 x 768 and 1920 x 1080 both seem to break it.

Can you give me directions to the Toy Store and the CG Bar?

Hey,

The toy store is in the upper district.

The CG Bar is on a back alley, on the way to the upper district. The path is blocked by a few crates so you need the push skill to find the way. And you'll need either a special skill or a special item to bypass the guard if you want to enter as a little.

I feel like I am dumb since I don't have a map of the city, I am doing Julian's Side quest and I got the Memories glasses.

Edit: I found the Caregiver Bar and when I went to the punishment room, it seems like the thing is not completed and it sends me to a random sky box my character not insight
